This is the progress I’ve made 3 months after surgery to repair my fractured right femur. Unfortunately, the humid climate of this tropical island plays havoc with the pins that have been inserted – but nothing too serious. I’m doing pretty well, considering that at the 3 month mark, I’m supposed to just be starting to put weight on that leg – yet, through diligence and determination, I can walk around unaided for short periods of time. I guess you can see why I’m so focused on setting up my on-line contracting assignments as opposed to traveling to some call-center via relatively primitive Filipino transportation methods that allows one to feel every pebble in the road.
So far, I’ve passed 4 exams on the host company’s website that included some tough subjects like asymmetrical encryption and tricky proof-reading exercises. I should be up and “running”, soon.

Nice that you are making progress! You mentioned earlier about feeling some numbness in your hands — when I broke my ankle back in 1973, I was told not to walk with tops of the crutches in my armpits; they were supposed to be up against my ribs – the reason being that apparently one could damage nerves if the crutches weren’t used properly.

Actually, the numbness was noticed on the day after my surgery – before attempting to use the crutches. I attributed it to either being in the wrong position (on my back) – or a side effect of the anesthesia. It’s slowly going away. When I get a few extra bucks (hard to come by in the Philippines), I’ll check out some acupuncture. But, as I said – it’s getting better and just a mild annoyance. BTW – I like your work and I have added your site to my Links – I can remove it at anytime if you so desire
That hurts to look at. For whatever reason it reminds me of my Dad’s by-pass scars.
Well, dummy, maybe that’s because some of those scars are on his leg too.
Cullen, Super Genius.
Hopefully you’ll fully recover from this — sounds like a nightmare, but you seem to be handling it in good spirits.
Thanks for adding the link to my blog! I’ve split the original Meanderbox into two seperate blogs: Meanderbox for the cartoons and my pathetic attempts at humor, and Meanderpix (a link is at Meanderbox) that’s just photos. I’m glad you like the stuff!
I enjoy reading about your life over there — It’s souds so different from here in the US.
Rob
Thanks. It’s quite different. Now that I have the opportunity, I’ll soon start to post some observations (and photos) regarding life in the Philippines. After having watched a large number of TV shows depicting life in South East Asia and the surrounding areas, I’ve noticed that this particular country is unique in several crucial aspects that, on the surface, can appear to make little sense in it’s approach to everyday living. Whereas other counties in this region seem to have a linear, cohesive culture that has evolved over a long period of time – the culture of the Philippines seems cobbled together from the disparate parts of other cultures and can actually, on many occasions, have a certain disdain for itself (!!)
